ah... hyperthreading is like almost 2 processors... and dual core is actually 2 processors?!? am i right? im still a lil bit confused... corollasbest, that helped though... there's just too much terms on there... so i didnt understand it that well...

not exactly... hyperthreading just helps the processor run faster and dual core is one processor but tricks (basically) the os and the motherboard in to thinking that there are 2 identical processors... (little tid bit on dualcore, you cna only get it to run correctly if you are running paired memory, eg 2 sticks of 1 gig of ram... as I am, or something of the sort... the easest way to get this to work is by buying already paired memory, sticks sold in 2 packs.)

kris... here it comes buddy. right up your ***. :)

HYPERTHREADING is the trickery of your system... ACTUALLY it's running in SMP (multi processor for you non-geeks) mode and multi-threading within the processor... *THAT* is Hyper Threading

Here's the def for the stuff from Intel:

Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology)1 provides thread-level parallelism on each processor, resulting in more efficient use of processor resources, higher processing throughput, and improved performance on today's multi-threaded software.

Dual Core (READ THAT AGAIN KRIS) is exactly that. TWO processor cores, merged and in line on the same processor chip. It is ACTUAL hardware, no tricks.

To quote from INTEL (you know, those smart fuckers who make the ****:(

An Intel dual-core processor consists of two complete execution cores in one physical processor (right), both running at the same frequency. Both cores share the same packaging and the same interface with the chipset/memory.

ah............. ok.... cool... so basically, hyper threading is like when the processor multi tasks... omg, i hope im right now... coz i really feel like a dumbass right now...
