What to use for side mouldings?

I know all you guys are crazy about taking your side mouldings off, but I was wondering what I could use to put them on? I won a bid for some silver ones off ebay and am not too sure if 3M I use 3m tape or some sort of advance cocking formula, or silicon paste? Will 3m tape be strong enough to withstand water and such? Please reply guys, I need your expertise...

My M3 lip uses 3M tape, and I can testify it is some STRONG stuff! Rain hasn't bothered it yet, nor my bopping it with my orbital polisher a couple times.
