You shouldn't play with tire size just to make it look better. You'll screw up the speedometer calibration with different diameter tires. Just lower it to eliminate the wheel gap.

i have an 03 corolla S with tc wheels. The stock tires on them are 215/45/17. I am going to put on a trd lowing springs soon but i was wondering do you think it would look better with 215/50/17 on them. Just to fill in the gaps a little better.

Going from 45 to 50 isn't much. But still, up sizing is gonna hurt your performance and screw up the speedometer. But not a really big different tho.
I suggest that you lower your car before think about the new tires. You never know if the tires will hit the side wall or anything until you lowered.
