Engine weird ticking noise when start up

weird ticking noise when start up

i own a 2003 corolla S, and i just recently noticed a problem. i dont know what the cause of it is, or if i should even be alarmed. basically what is going on is that when i start my car up (in the cold) i could hear a "ticking noise" from the left part of my engine bay, by the belts im guessing. the ticking dosent have a pattern it will tick for a few seconds then stop then start up again.

any help??

It's because of your CAI and you don't have to worry about it.

but he said its in the belts side and thats the other side of the engine.

I have the same ticking noise it seems to be coming from the black box above my VSV It just started doing it after I put my CAI on.

oh thats normal. i have a TRD CAI and it ticks too. u can hear the ticking w/ stock intake too but its a lot softer that u dont hear it when ure inside ure car.
