    Question about your Corolla

Did you swap the engine yourself or did you purchase the car that way? I have to replace the engine in my wife's '99 and I found an '01 Engine with the VVTi for less money than the '99 engine. I was worried about the install. I figured it would require a new ECU but wasn't sure what else. Did you replace the ECU? If so, did you have to purchase a new wiring harness as well? Was there anything else that was required in the replacement?

u have to get the ecu and wiring harness for the 2001 corolla since it is a vvti...........installation was easy as pie!!! the motor slips right in!! its the same liter size as the 99 motor (i.e. 1.8L) and u wont encounter any problems as long as u get the wiring harness and ecu

I just bought a wire harness for a 00 corolla on ebay for $1 and it had the fuel rail and injectors with it. Didn't really need one, but it can't hurt to have an extra 4 injectors almost brand new for $1
