    VVT-i is now TRD Forums

[img2=left]http://TRDforums.com/assets/newsimages/trdforums.jpg[/img2]After reading the numerous threads discussing the pros and cons of using a very similar name to another Toyota forum, I’ve decided to change the name of the site. Starting this weekend the domain name will change to TRDforums.com

To help keep confusion to a minimum, the new site will be mostly identical just with a different name. Our staff will remain the same and the most you’ll have to worry about is being required to log in again.

    What changes are coming?
The vvt-I red style is being renamed and modified and will become the main style again. If you wish to use a different style you may still do so by selecting it in the user control panel.

    What will happen to vvt-i.net?
We will still redirect people to the new site so all the old links posted out on the net will still work.

    Will there be any downtime?
Minimal. Parts of the site may not work correctly but the forums should be running the majority of the time.

    What about my vvt-i.net sticker?
Think of it as a collector’s item, no more will be made or sold again.

    Will we sell TRDforums stickers?
No. We may sell a ‘forums’ sticker but it’s up to you to find the trd part elsewhere.

What about links to a certain thread on vvt-i.net, will those still work?
Yes, vvt-i.net will simply repeat the request to trdforums and bring you to the correct page.

How long will the entire process take?
The entire process should be completed by the end of the weekend.

    Thanks,
    CorollasBest

Wow, I like the new name however I can't help but think you should get both TRDForums and TRDForum so that we don't get in another camper related situation :)

Sweet! That is great, VVT-i was limiting in its name anyways. TRD forums will draw in a much larger crowed. Smart move.

Wow that will be a cool change actually.

I wonder if it will help us attract more toyota users in general. You know have a celica, scion, etc section.

I know we'll at LEAST have a tundra section. lol

    Good choice. :D

I think it's a great idea. Really good move to help keep this site from falling into oblivion. Also, my car doesn't have VVT-i, so I felt like I would be a stereotypical ricer to put that sticker on the car. A TRDforums sticker I would love to have on the car though.

We might even attract some AE86 traffic...

That doesnt matter. Getting a good decent name that is good across all models can be difficult when all the good ones are taken already.

CB, you should do an ad campaign to promote the new site to people. We won't get extra traffic from potential users unless people know about the place.

Hey CB, just to verify, you're going to keep vvt-i.net domain as a pointer, correct?

Something tells me that since the new domain has 'forums' in it, it won't be long before it's blocked at work. :)
