    Vibration noise help ASAP

Ok so i got my water pump replaced since when the AC is on it made a noise but then they said the timimg chain tensioners were loose so they replaced them then when they reassembled everything they messed up the timing cover so they replaced it for free hehe. When i got it back though i noticed something. there is a very fast vibration/grinding noise when i move from stop to accelerate. it is around 1500-1800 rpms is when it starts makin noise but then it goes away above that and below. when you are cruising at those rpms there really is no sound just when it is about to change gears. and it happens in most of them. Please help. Thanks

Ps it is an auto tranny 4spd

Sounds like the noise I'm having. I still have yet to replace the timing tensioner and I haven't had the time to really go rooting around in there. Ideas in my whacky skull include motor mounts, loose exhaust bolts or shields, AC clutch failing (although, it makes noise without the AC on now), loose pulleys or bad bearings, or those darn fenders have come loose again.

Lesson learned: DO YOUR OWN WORK. I thought I could trust the Toyota guys. And then I found pot in the change holder that wasn't mine. Parts were replaced with missing fasteners, work wasn't done that the car was in for, yet was invoiced...

Nice to know everybody knows how to "modify" an engine they don't know how to repair.

Thank you very much. At least someone here could spare a little time to offer an opinion to help out a NEWB.

Not trying to dog the forum (although someone will pop out from under the stickers and carbon fiber to crucify me), but I thought this forum was here to help educate people. Sorry to bait you rollatuner110, but ya gotta get a bite...

(Hang in there Countryboy - I'll look at mine tonight since the wife has been complaining that it's sluggish. And that's just not good when she can't go fast!)

It's cool. We get a lot of questions here that have very simple solutions that can be solved by researching it yourself. It gets very redundant, therefore we don't tend to answer those questions.

Hey sorry for askin questions i am on my own and learning but anyway it was not the timing at all after i looked at it a while i found out that the OBX headers were rubbing up against the stabalizer bar at that speed. FYI iff you decide to install headers instead of welding it to the pipe like everyone else on here does if u take some exhaust wrap and put it around the oval shaped part of the header that connects to the pipe then install the clamp you will not here a rattle at all and yes it is still air tight so exhaust does not leak out and make noise.

I had a similar thing, sort of grinding scratching noise comming from the engine bay after they replaced my alternator. Never figured it out, it was right before I replaced the pulleys and belts and those were out of the question, I figured it was that damn remanufactured alternator, but the voltage levels were ok. I sold the car with that noise.
