03+ corolla only can use T-IV fluids. If you use Dexron III to replace the transmission fluid. You will damage the transmission.
But !! 98-01 corolla default is use Dexron III, but you can change it to T-IV fluids.

Using Dexron III in corolla 02+

i have a 2005 corolla with auto transmission and i was wondering if anyone has tried to replace their transmission fluid with the standard Dexron III instead of the recommended genuine toyota ATF type T-IV fluid. If so did the transmission run properly? I know that the manual states that they only recommend the toyota type T-IV. fluids. I wanted to save some money on the fluide because the Dexron III cost only 1.27 per quart vs. 4.95 for the toyota fluid.

What's the different between Dexron III and T-IV fluids?
I went to Toyota dealer for transmission oil change for my 01 last time, does that mean they changed it to T-IV fluids?

I don't know how to explain Dexron III and T-IV in English. Sorry! my english isn't good enought.<br />
If you don't request to use T-IV, Toyota dealer always use Dexron III for 93-01 corolla.
