    Nice thread jack. No.

I suggest contacting Doctor Tweak from Phoenixtuning.

rods and pistons are sure away NEED TO CHANGE on 1zzs.... too weak for massive boosting...

for mild 8psi or less boost they´re ok... at best
the rest is... get a nice mid or small sized turbo and IC if you want and some additional injector or go 440c or or or o r or or or or....

The manifold is one of the most important pieces. I would suggest you source all the parts before you commit to beefing up the motor. Check out MonkeyWrenchRacing. They have turbo manifolds for the 1ZZ.

is it even worth lowering my compression, the pistons are the most expensive part of my build right now. i dont plan on boosting over 10 psi and i will be driving this car a lot around town. this is a 1000$ question

I don't see a need for lower compression pistons. You're not even going to boost at 1 bar.

Did you say your budget was $1200? That will only get you new pistons and any stage Cam, because they are all on sale right now at MWR. You can't do much else with that amount, but I like the fact that you will/plan to spend it on building your 1zz-fe. Try this kit. I haven't purchased from them, but it seems like a damn good deal to me.

that looks pretty good right now, but i have a few people thinking about throwing some money into my car, plus my dad wants to help. i might get the complete engine from mwr with cams and stuff all done, its 5000 but every week i get more in the bank its just a matter of time

I thought you were just boosting the current you have in the car already, so why did you order a second engine?

i found this 20k motor for 1400$ and thats almost 150k miles less than my current motor. i figured itd be better to turbo a lower mileage engine

Oh that's a lot of miles lol I didn't know you had that many on the original mortor. The 1ZZ you ordered, was it with VVT-i? I don't know if they added that on later for the Celicas as they did the Corollas. Hopefully you didn't buy an engine with older technology.

yes lol it has vvti. the only thing is the engine drained my checking account so now i have to wait. doing the swap myself should keep me busy, and i can think things through

Since it's the same engine, I can't imagine it would be too difficult, unlike going from one engine to a completely different one. Ok well since I don't know a thing about swapping engines, I will go back to just reading and give no more input lol.

im so close to being done, the only problem so far is i broke the knock sensor. im also not sure if leaving the tranny in was a good idea, i should being putting the motor into the car tomorrow. ive changed the wiring harness out and installing the water pump, alternator, air conditioning, and the throttle once its on the mounts

    hrmmm....

... don't mind me i'm lurking this thread.

for the record, you *can* squeeze out 10psi at sea level w/o any danger on a stock 1zz so long as you have good timing pull and fuel supply isn't a problem.

MWR has decent parts for working up a Celica build, however (to answer the corolla question) you're better off building a custom log manifold on the Corolla platform. Once you start trying to pull funky equal length configurations you run out of room for decent clearance and routing of IC piping. However, in all cases, *anything* can be done. It's just how much effort, time and.... money you're willing to put into it.

I suggest anyone wanting to boost a 1zz start by looking at a budget of 3500 and up. Anything less and purchasing "discount" parts is sure to get a "discount" configuration and end up melting down something.

    Just my 0.02 worth.
