    ...That's a 50% gain...isn't that more like 140%?
    Is that even possible?

Which is too bad because that company has some decent rebuild kits, at least it seems.

there is no way in hell i would be able to handle that. even with the last engine i had which was built with high quality components except for the rings and stock timing chain.

I think the point that he was making was that there is not one otherwise he would have used it.

Sorry for opening an old thread but I want to know what makes these kits so bad? I mean it sounds like they have the same components I would buy if I was going ot make a kit from scratch but they are bolt and drive kits. I want to turbo my car but over and over I can't reiterate how much I cannot have my car offline for more then a weekend and I dont think I can construct and install a kit in a weekend. Someone please tell me exactly why these kits are crap and back them up with evidence that is more then one single persons experience. Because if we always went by one persons experience then nobody would have got the SF kits either. I'm trying not to turn this into a rant but I'm only not purchasing this kit because everyone says its crap. can someone tell me why it isn't crap? What would you do different with a custom kit? I'm curious.

You are correct, all turbo "kits" is composed of essentially the same items; turbo, manifold, charge pipes, down pipe, wastegate, intercooler, bypass valve, and fuel management. But the kit would not work if the plumbing, ie charge pipes and down pipe is not routed correctly with respect to your chassis/engine bay. It would be like buying a celica or MR2 turbo kit and trying to install it on ur rolla because yet again they are compose of the same parts. This kit is made by TSI and Hookedup96rolla have had some bad experiences with the fitment of their kits. TSI is definately not a reputable company

Besides that their fuel management look like crap, Black box? c'mon that sounds as reliable as running a FMU. Fuel management is the most important piece of the puzzel and should be done right and tuned correctly to ensure the longivity of your engine.

    Hey Cuztomrollaz98,

What happnened with your car / kit that would make you call these crap? We have successfully sold many of these for the 1ZZ Corolla.

Well the only way of knowing if that kit is crap is looking at it maybe if they had actuals pictures of the kit installed on a car, with dyno chart. Other that that there is no way of knowing.

On the other hand, you could make a custom setup maybe with little down time, all you have to do is plan it. First thing I did was install the plug for the oil drain, took the oil pan out wellded a fitting to it and put a cap in the hole and put the oil pan back to the car, it took me a few hours to do that. Next I did the return line and so on. Think about it.
