you'll be way better off if you do the work yourself and build what you want..... you'll have what YOU want and you'll know how to fix anything that goes wrong without having to keep your "mechanic" on speed dial....

i think you take my attitude the wrong way on here...... i'm not on any high or elite horse..... ask anyone who has IM'ed with questions.... unless it's a question about exterior mods (where i give my opinion.... which really doesn't matter as it isn't my car) i try to be as helpful as possible

i know what it's like to be ignorant about cars..... until i really started doing a lot of my own work mechanically, i was for the most part mechanically inclined for cars (which was only like 8 months ago when i started the motorswap in the ae92 and knew very little). And until i had done the work, i was more of one of those guys who read up a lot but didn't actually get my hands dirty yet.

the only reason i say do stuff yourself is because you save money and you also understand whats going on IF something goes wrong....

any Q's just IM me: toyotaspeed90 (aim) toyotaspeed_90 (yahoo) toyotaspeed90@hotmail.com (msn)

yea, but its really hard starting from scratch. Like if I were to get a custom turbo kit on my car, its not like i would just leave it at a mechanics shop and come back for it the next day, I would want to be there the whole way with someone showing me whats going on and like you said, how things work.

check your email jake - there are a lot of things i can help you out with on part acquisitions and turbo has volunteered to help you out some as well - I certainly don't think you can go wrong with that combination. get your hands dirty bro - you'll understand your car SOOO much better afterwards. As I said, check your mail.

i say go down to a junkyard and pick up an engine. doesn't have to be a 1zzfe, and get manual and just start tearing it down and stuff, then you'l see how stuff works, rather than seeing it on howstuffworks.com :)

hey what up guys. I finally found a turbo kit on the internet that runs about 2600 for my car.
    http://www.importperformanceparts.n...pec_toyota.html

any of you heard of this company? and is it even worth investing in my car with a turbo kit if i have an auto tran and close to 70k miles on my car?

ugh..... damn the ignorants who want to pay way more for a "kit" rather than get their hands dirty and get to know their local machine shop owner.....

lol, I dont really know a whole lot about turbocharging an engine other than it adds awesome power and could fry your engine if done installed and maintained properly. How would I go about doing it with my local machine shop owner??

    haha i turbo'd mine @ ~80K and I'm @ ~115K now... lol

as for internals, do that second - go ahead and turbo now, run a limited amount of boost so you have some power now, the save up money to build out a motor that can handle high boost. once you've got that built, then you can crank up the boost some more and have more fun. :)

awesome guys. I appreciate all of you for helping out so much. I feel the rolla love in the forum! I am sooo gonna take my car to the next level. Back to one of my earlier quesitons, should I trade my car in for a lower mileage car before i start dropping all this cash into it? because my car right now has close to 70,000 miles on it, and im not sure how corollas do when it exceeds 100k.

if i was going ot turbo, and im sure most of the turbo guys on here would agree that you should replace your connecting rods, pistons, rebuild the head, do all that stuff. you dont want to throw a rod and bust your block, when it happened to me it was funny, but i dont think you want to be doing that.

i'm not sure what else you can replace to make the block stronger, but the guys posting in this thread know a lot.
