TRD Lip Kit HELP!!!

Alright I just car back today from the shop. It was supposed to come back with the kit installed but he didnt do it. He said that the kit would start to bend because of the cold. He told me that this kit cant be used in the winter and Im calling a major b.s. on that. Vamp is in Maryland or around there, CB up in WA. Colder over there than here. So now I have my entire kit painted but it needs to be installed. Not sure if he drilled the holes yet or not so I gotta check. How difficult could it be? I know about vamps diy but Im kinda quesy. Also is he yanking my chain or something? I deff do not believe him about it bending from the cold. Either way hes mad at me because of it lol. I dont even like him but hes my dads friend...

I dont think its odd, I think hes just an ass. One of the side skirts seems a little out of shape but I was bending it earlier and nothing was going wrong with the paint or anything.

Everything has been painted now and its all blended too because whole car was repainted. Nothing is installed because of the douche bag of a mechanic I got.

Ok this ass is now telling me that he took it to the Toyota dealer and they told him that they discontinued the kit because they would never fit right. Im about to slap this asshole.

so basically that "mechanic" is just lazy and doesn't want to do it for you?

I would wait till it's warm out before installing it. I've had the paint crack and flake off my kit when the pieces are flexed because of the cold.

I can understand it cracking but he was telling me the paint was coming off like paper. Hes just really lazy. I have no choice but to wait until it gets warmer because right now Im off from school because of extreme cold temperatures lol.

That's actually what happened with mine. It cracked and the paint just came off like paper. I could probably peel most of it off if I wanted to.

So regular paint cant be used on this? It has to be some special paint?

my kit never had that problem with the paint peeling. I had it since 2001 been through 20 degrees to 115 degrees weather. it has the orignal paint though.

20deg is nothing compared to what are getting here. This morning it was -12 without the wind chill and currently its at -2

I had that flex stuff on my paint job as well, but it still peeled off anyway, and it's not like I got a cheap paint job done on them.

When I had mine the driver's side skirt would shrink when the tempetature dropped below 30 F. It would shhrink so much that it would pull the fender into the door and have the door rub the fender whenever the door was opened. I had to make a cut on the seam to fix it.

My kit was repainted as well professionally, and it never loss any paint. Is the same paint they use on bumpers.

your mechanic may actually be smarter than you think, he does not want to deal with you coming back to him bitchin' that it does not fit well and that it is his fault.

your probably right about the bitching thing but hes still stupid. hes the ass that uses epoxy to stick on emblems. epoxy + paint = bad i know from experience from this ass.

Well he had smashed my bumpers so he was gonna fix em. I thought since he was already painting half the car, might as well do the rest with the lip kit
