trd intake on a Corolla S

Hey, this has probably been addressed before, but I couldn't find it.

I just got a TRD CAI (got a real good deal on it) and when I was looking through the install manual, it says it won't work on my S model because of the fog lights. Is there a way to get around this?

It's a tight squeeze down there, but it will fit. The filter might have to be bent a little bit.

I've got it on my S...........it will fit, the filter is pretty smashed against the foglight, but it won't affect your performance.

same here, the filter is just crammed on top of the foglight. Still runs the same. No worries. Good luck with the install. :D

all finished. I had to put a dent in my filter to get it to fit around the light, but probably 90% of the filter is the same as before. I just made sure I mounted the tube as far back as I could.

It is actually my wife's car. I borrowed it today and did it while she was at work! She loves it. I haven't driven it yet, but I rode with her while she tested it. I can't believe how much meaner it sounds when you wind it up. Sounds a lot manly-er! She says she can definately feel a differnce in power. TRD claims 9 hp and 11 ft-lbs of torque from this little job. I was sceptical due to the faact that I installed a K&N FIPK on a blazer I had and I couldn't tell a difference, but I wouldn't doubt it now that I rode along. Has anyone had theirs dyno'd after the CAI install?

That's tested on a matrix xrs w/ the 2zz engine..........We've got the 1zz, so the gains won't be quite as much

thats more like what I had suspected. At any rate, I drove it last night and I love it. It really seems to have opened up the intake. Like I said before, the K&N one that I put on my old blazer, didn't do much, but it was a vortec engine, so maybe chevy already had it pretty unrestricted.

ok i have the injen intake which is actually for a 03 matrix XR... i bought it before they released the one for the corolla cause i knew it would work. its pressed against the foglight pretty tight but it still works... the only problem ive had it water getting in the fog light but i sealed it up and its been that way for 2 years and no problem.

when it rain the water was running off the filter and dropping into a little hole on the back of the fog light that was prob supposed to be sealed anyways but wasnt.
