well, you wont need a heat shield. The best thing that you will get with it is the impressive engine sound above 4000 rpms.....oh yea you will also get about 5 hp, which you may or may not be able to feel. I personally like the short ram's better because they're louder and you dont have to worry about hydrolocking, but on the other hand some people say that hydrolocking is not an issue with a cai. I have heard stories about people hydrolocking driving through some big ass puddles though. Just be careful with the puddles over 6 inches and you should be fine.

Um, I dont think you would need a heatshield with a cold air intake since the filter is located away from the engine, so there wouldnt be any heat touching the filter. But u could use the headshield as a splashguard somewhat. I wouldnt bother with it unless I had a Short ram intake, or wanted some extra bling in the engine bay.

the foglight problem. just slide your filter above the foglight housing and htat should clear it. also, since its higher, less chance of water getting inside the filter too

i had it for my old injen intake for my old car.. helps alot.. keeps the dust off the filter.. since a intake is mostly about how good the filter is.. it is highly recommended.. specially for people with CAI... keepts the dust from flying up and getting stuck in the intake filter.. or water splashes..

what you could try doing is making a cold box for your short ram. Like what performance companys did in the early 90's and i see it rarely today. What you do is take a shet of aluminum and fold out a kind of box shape give the intake room to breathe at the same time blocking most of the heat from the engine. then make a flange kinda out of the same sheet or weild it to it. Attach a dryer hose to it and put it down near the fog light area.
