no... actually it will just tighten up the sloppyness that we have... and upgrade some items... so that it will allow it to handle more tq...

hey guys... just thought i let u guys know...

whoever here have a auto... and would like it to shift better and handle more hp/tq... theres a prototype kit being developed... its been about a month so far... and once its finished... it will be tested on my car...

its a large company... most of u guys should know about it... and mainly they produce domestic trans upgrade parts... and they wanna get into the import scene...

Id take low boost w/ a stock 5spd tranny over a bulletproof auto @ like 12psi anyday. Driving a car is more than jus speed to me...5spd is soooooo much more fun to drive.

well it would really depend on what is being done.. And even after that: the price.

LevelTen offers a complete bulletproof tranny rebuild but the cost would equal or even surpass that of a manual tranny swap..

my car is going in on 7-17-04... ill be workin with them on the tranny...

so far... the info that ive got is...

this kit is something that anybody can install by themselves in the driveway... this is so because our tranny pan is "rite there."

and the kit will be produced by TransGo.... its a pretty large company... and they got heaps of tranny stuff in there... i was there on my "2hr" lunch break... haha...

and just with the valve body upgrade... he, the owner, is confident that our tranny will be able to hold two times the tq.... and he will look into... see how much our stock tranny can hold....

pricing? dunno yet... but from the items that ive seen them sell.... nothing is over 500 bucks... on avg... some kits are 1 to 2 bills...

so there u guys have it... a tranny upgrade for the autos....

Very interesting.... Theres nothing worse than gunning it and bouncing off of the rev limiter because it wont shift fast enough.... hehe.

now if it's 1 to 2 bills i might be intrested.. will they also consider making a high stall torque converter for our cars?

if i remember correctly... he told me that i have the 250 or 251 model... its basically the same thing... so u guys shouldnt worry too much.... its just a difference of how many clutch packs and stuff...

when i see him next week... ill ask him about it... and confirm it...

btw, DOES anybody KNOW how much tq our stock tranny can hold?

and ShinmaTsunami what do you mean by new kit and regular shift kit?

    Sean,

When I had my trannie rebuilt last fall, I asked about a shift kit. They said they would be able to put one in, but that it would cost $400 just to crack open the case again. I promptly gave them the mental finger and walked away. I thought, up until now, that there were already existing kits for us. I didn't really ask around since I didn't have the $400 to spend on it. *shrugs* In anycase, I'm really looking forward to hearing more about the kit you're gonna be running.

there isnt a real kit out there for us... if someone tells you that they have a "kit" out for our cars then they are either lyin or using some other tranny kit....

ne body who are into musle cars should know transgo... they are trying to make a kit for our cars... and it will be as simple as droppin the tranny pan... takin out the valve body and replacing some springs and enlargin some holes... im estimatin NO MORE then 5 hrs... prob 1-2 hr job...

level 10 have a "kit" but they do everything "inhouse" and buy parts from transgo.... transgo supply about 90% of tranny upgrade parts to all over the world...

One more thing - I am about 90% sure the 93-97 and 98-02 uses the same model 4spd automatic tranny, model A245E. can you confirm this?

yes it will make stock better... remove the soft shifts... and decrease shift times even more... should make tires chirp, etc...

not sure about final cost... but thats ball park figure.... it just depends on what needs to be done... the more parts... then the higher the cost... but they said we dont use solinoids.. but use the old style... so easier to work with...

actually hes gonna hook me up with a dyno test... after i get the valve body done of course... forget sf... i cant even get ne thing done there....

I'm with D. What about the three speed? And how would this new kit stand upto a normal auto shift kit?

Well.... The trannie cost approx $1,800 to rebuild. I think they could have made us a better deal considering they had the damned car for like.... 7 business days.

I accidentally threw the car into reverse at 65mph. It killed the high gear, but it still ran and everything. I drove it for like. two days until I could get it into the shop. It needed some serious work.

should have seen my dumbass friend, he just got his rsx-s, and he was in fifth gear, and he powershifted to what he thought was sixth..but instead, his revs jumped to like 50 trillion and went to the side of the road at like 55 mph in reverse..needless to say, his car was totalled after it hit the guardrail and made love to it for a good 10 seconds
