    Toyota in North America

North American Toyota production began in 1984 and has grown steadily over the years.

This year, Toyota will build its 20 millionth vehicle in North America including the 5 millionth Corolla. The Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix, Toyota RAV4 and Lexus RX 350 are all manufactured at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Inc. (TMMC) facilities in Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario. To date, over 3 million vehicles have been manufactured in Canada alone.

Toyota's thirteen North American manufacturing plants that make 11 Toyota and Lexus models have earned 11 segment awards out of a possible 19 in the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS), more than any other manufacturer, for the third consecutive year.

Toyota directly employs over 43,000 in North America and its investment here is currently valued at more than $21 billion, including sales and manufacturing operations, research and development, financial services and design. Toyota's purchasing of parts, materials, goods and services from North American suppliers totals more than $30 billion per year.
