    toyota atlantic 4AGE.. HOTTNESS

so i was out at the Indy300 qualifying, and went by the toyota booth... saw an atlantic 4AGE (for those of you who don't know, this is the 1.6 4AGE NA monster that makes 260+hp at 9500 RPM) .. and had a brainstorm..

i wrote down the PN for the oil filter... gotta be a good filter if it goes on a race engine, no? it's not readily available in the US tho, from what i can tell, cuz all my online searches come up with .jp sites..

    90080-91058

(btw, this filter will fit on all corollas. )

That # you can find at a dealer who has some old stock... cuz thats the same as todays A2 filter exactly the same.... When you get that filter out of the box it has a plastic protector on the filter and comes pre lubed.... Now they are only distributed in japan because toyota only distributes the A2 in the states because they are made here.....

oh my bad ;) thought it was a superior filter..

and the 260HP at 9500 + rpm came straight off the placard above the engine.. so that's why i stated it as such..

do you think that the A series motor will fit? i know that there is a fwd version of it. but watching initial d and how there stuff is almost correct to the real life thing they said that the trd tuned 4age that is in takumi 86 now is from the later version ae101-110 without the vvti stuff.

It was my understanding that the engine Tak used was the 20v one and not this one (if you watch the animation you can read "20v twin cam" on the engine).

this is from an ad i have sitting in front of me (back page, May 24, 1993 Autoweek)

    "THE EQUALIZER"
    (big picture of atlantic 4ag)

"At toyota, we believe in equal opportunity. And what could be more equal than a racing series in which every car in every race is powered by the same engine. Of course, Toyota's 4A-GE engine isn't just any engine. Utilizing dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder, it produces a whopping 240 hp and yet displaces only 1.6 liters.
But the real benefit of using these engine is that winning in the....."

    and it goes on
