    Touch up Paint Techniques

Ive done touch up paint about 3 times and it always ends up being a blob. What are the proper techniques and methods for applying touch up? Should I get the pen or the brush?

i think brush is better. If you are getting blobs you have too much paint. sometimes dabbing a cloth in the touch up paint and lightly feathering and building it up works really well. waxing or using a rubbing compound afterwards helps blend it in.

There are different ways of doing it. Some of the experts use a match stick (the paper end of the match from a book of matches). I have used a toothpick or a very tiny artist brush (like a 000 or 0000). You may need some paint thinner because most of the touch up paint is very thick. What you want to do is to paint it is thin layers. You want to build it up little by little, maybe 3 or 4 coats (allow to dry between coats) until it is just above the surface of the paint. Then after it dries thoroughly you can lightly sand it with 1000 grit sandpaper till it is level and then polish it with polishing compound. It should match nicely and be very level with the existing paint. It takes a little time and some patience.
