Tokico or KYB?

Tokico or KYB?

Which is gonna be better for my 97 Rolla thats lowered on Intrax springs? Please list pros and cons of each if you can. Thanks to anyone that can help me out. I will be purchasing one of the two from RacingSolution once I get a good sway towards one or the other. Thanks again.

i'm fine with either one but i heard ppl say Tokico is better... but if u hav the $$ go KONI

i heard tokico is more performance orientated, which kinda means itll be stiffer and more of a bumpy ride. with kyb, its still performance but then its not as ridgid as tokico. its only from what i heard, so dont kill me.

I like having stiff suspension and the way the tokicos dampen is excellent!

i heard some mechanics wouldn't touch tokico's a while back, kyb's are good. but eh, maybe tokico raised their standards or something

Never tried kyb so I can't speak for those. I like my tokicos but it definately is a rougher ride than a stock set up. I think my 17" rims make the ride worse than the suspension does though.

i have Tokico + Intrax...that setup gets a huge thumbsup with me.

I have had them both and this is an accurate statement. I still say but some JIC's but I did like the Tokico's better than the KYB's but I do know that my passengers seemed to appreciate the softer ride of the KYB's a bit more. On another note, I still have my old Tokico's. They have about 12K miles on them and I have not cleaned them off yet, but I may be interested in selling them if you are looking for a cheep upgrade. I also have some groupd control coil overs. Let me know.

Go read reviews on epinions.com they both suck. They will blow/leak oil after a few months, personal experience with the Tokicos.

well i've had mine for over a year with no leaks...so that doesn't match up there, hon.

i've had mine fr a little over a year...still good. i have eibach pro kit to go with them... i like them a lot

Yeah my tokicos are fine after more than a year.

I do have one leaking, but Tokico has a lifetime warranty, so it's not that big of a deal.

I bought mine from toyhookup@yahoo.com -- he said to send the old one back to him when I swap it out, and he'll submit it to Tokico for reimbursement..works for me. =)

I am getting Tokicos, I have heard they last longer. Just looking at the stock KYBs, I never wanna get gas KYBs.

Of course, you won't know if it's leaking until you take the suspension off and see if the piston rebounds or not. Half the people who have them think they're fine when they're not.

My tokico feels good on any driving condition...

hmmm, KYB's are not that smooth, especilly when they're like a year old or so... i haven't tried tokico... hmmm, maybe i should upgrade...

How would those work on a stock suspension? Cause I have to replace mine, i'd want something a little better than stock... but reliable.

KYB's are the brand that stock corolla's have or least us to have

no...KYB is OEM replacement.

Apex with KYB, love it. Thats what I heard too, KYB is more comfort and Tokico more performance. They are both performance but KYB is softer so I hear and Tokico stiffer.

kyb gr2 are replacement struts/shocks, my shop put kyb gr2's on ANY car that has blown shocks or struts. Tokico HP series are a different story but its still a low level performance shock. Koni is more like it but they're inserts and the 5ways adjustibilty only controls compression and not rebound.

I have dirty grease all over my drivers' side strut..I think it's leaking.

Fortunately, I have a brand shiny new one to put in next weekend.
