    Tire sizing and offset

I'm trying to find how a rota slipstream in 16x7 would fit my 02 corolla.. how wide of tires could I use?

offset is +40.. stock is +38?!?

    anybody have these?

205/45/16. Best combo for 8th gen with 16s. Exactly what I had, no rubbing at all.

    I got an 02 S and found that a 16x7 in a +42mm offset w/ that size tire rubs. I might suggest a +45mm offset w/ that size tire.

The only time I rub was I was driving really really fast on a bumpy road (not sh!tty road, just bumpy, the road just wavy up and down). Then the rear tire just rub a little, that's it. So with normal drive, it doesnt rub at all.

Did you ever notice your back tires sitting inward like a bulldog type of stance with smaller tires? I had to modify both rear inner lips to stop rubbing. My tires sat inward pretty bad when more than two people were in my car, but it had extremely good handling. they were 18 X 7.5 rims with 215/35 ZR 18' tires

I thought corollas had a mac-pherson strut design.. so the camber doesn't change under weight? or am I lost

ok.. I'm having major tire problems right now with my stockers. They're down to 1mm of tread above the wear bars.. and are unevenly warn front to back so they cause bad vibration at speed. So, I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade.

this may becaused from severe braking, turning, and hard acceleration.I highly recommend you get some summer tires, or all-season but all-season slows you down a bit overall. There is the possiblity of having a "ball" and may cause the tire to rupture if you have moderate to severe vibration. do not have high air pressure in your tires as this my add to that effect just have adequate air pressure. hope this helps

it does change under weight due to the placing of the control arms and inner tie rods. that is why the rear tires sit inward like the BMW's for increased traction, especially while turning.

but he's running on stocks right now.Vamp had 16's i thought they were bigger though i know they were smaller than my 18's.

That sounds like exactly what is happening. I'll try dropping my tires by 5-8 lbs. until I can get better tires. man the stock ones suck.

O had the same problem with my 98 LE when i bought it is had these tires . I had them on ther for two days and then i went and bought BFGoodrich. the second my mom saw firestone on them she went out and bought tires. The BFG's were a substantial upgrade over the stones' FR680 were the ones it had. Toyota terminated thier contract with firestone and get a contract with goodyear and continental tire companys after what happened with FORD.The good year were not the best either. the integrity's i had sucked big time, then i went and bought BFG's again. the reason i went with BFG'S are because my mom gets a huge discount at sam's club.

The BFG's i bought new and did not even last me 6 months but then again i drove 21K miles with them.

so in order to fit a 17x7 rim on a 98 you would have to have a +47 offset like the TRD 16x7?

well Sean (Toyrolla) fit 17 x 7 with 205/40 tires and a 40+ offset on his old 01 and he was lowered. I doubt the slipstreams will rub w/ stock suspension.

I know several corolla guys had them in 16's with pretty decent drops and didnt rub.

i think 17 are max because after i hit 18's it became very tricky when buying tiresand service, but well controled ride and excellent turning.
