    Tinted red tails

I finally got around to tinting my tails red. Turned out pretty well. So now the outer tails are red and the inners are red and form a clear halo at the edges. It looks hot. I'll post pics later. I also tinted my extra inners full red so I can switch back and forth between styles if I wish.

I used red vinyl tint. It took me a couple tries to learn how to apply it correctly. That was annoying. LOL I tried to do what mingww in trdforums did but the inner tails came out horrible and I had to remove the red. I'll try to do it over later.

btw don't you think the chrome exhaust tip distracts from the flow of the car? I'm gonna primer and black it out when I have time.

I always wanted to do what mingww did also with his inner tails. Can't wait to see your result.

Making the templates for the vinyl pieces were hard and inaccurate. Its really hard to make one for the mingww inner taillight halo look.

I say use vinyl tint since its reversible. Once you use spray and if you screw up or don't like it anymore, you're screwed.

You guys have it easy compared to Prizm tails! But rollatuner is right about getting it done well. Heat with a hairdrier takes out all the bubbles. Did you use Oracal 8300 red vinyl? Thats what I used. I put it on 3 years ago and it hasn't faded, cracked, or anything. Looks as new as the day I put it on.

not nessacarily , denatured alcohol will pull it right off. then you just buff your tails , and viola , back to normal , stock , and shiney.

I just think vinyl is cleaner and easier to use. You can peel the the vinyl right off with no residue if you don't want it.

theres also stuff called VHT nite-shades. they have black out and red out. i got mine at my local tuner shop, so if you guys have one around and want to do it, just ask them. only problem i had with it is that on the first one i did i cleaned it before i did it with some headlight cleaner and it made it extremly bubbly. fixed it they look good

rolla tuner , you gotta think though , 7th gens got those 2 creases running longitudal across the tail lights , there deep , tint isnt gonna form into that and look right . it may be easy on you guyses year models , but i wanna see it a 7th gen , before i buy the vinyl.

You can cover the whole taillight and make slits in the vinyl to make it fit snugly. Its not that much harder.

Just cut the film a little big and then when you heat it, it will shrink down and form in the slit. I have maybe one or two tiny bubbles there total for both lights, so it works pretty well.
