Yea I head about that too... Check out
    http://peswiki.com/index.php/Direct...a_Fuel_Additive

For more info, usually people were scared about fuel line and gasket damage from acetone.... But most say it has no or little effect....

BTW just make sure you don't get any on your paint!

    The NEW(old) fuel additive....

    Acetone.

I was sitting talking to dad yesterday. He asked me if I wanted to know how to increase my fuel mileage....so I'm all "lay it on me." He says 1-3oz. acetone for each 10 gallons of fuel. His 1995 Ford F-250 5.0L V8 went from a consistent 15mpg to 17mpg after he started adding the acetone to his fuel. So, I'm all "WTF?"

Acetone decreases surface tension of fuel and thereby gives more complete/clean combustion due to better vaporization. I piped 2 oz. into my '03 Corolla's fuel tank yesterday before refueling. The engine IS smoother, but actually feels no different in terms of power. We'll see about the fuel mileage, though. I get a consistent 35mpg around town - it'll be hard to beat that, methinks.

It should say 100% acetone on the canister. It can be bought at Lowes, any drug store, automotive stores, etc. It's pretty easy to get ahold of. It's about $10 / gal.

It's too early to tell, but with 60mL (2 oz.), added to a full tank of fuel, the fuel gauge is dropping like a rocket. I do not think I'm going to get spectacular mileage, as I had hoped. Perhaps 2 oz. is to much. I'm going to try backing off next fill-up and see what happens.

Well, I put 60mL (2 oz.) into a full tank. I think that is too much. Based on research, 1-3oz. for each 10 gallons is suggested. More than that and fuel mileage will start dropping. You have to play with the dosage to see what is best in your particular case. 2oz. is obviously too much on my car, so at the next fill-up, I'm going to try less (40 mL / gallon).

    EDIT: Oops! I meant 40mL / 10 gallons.
