    The Da Vinci Code

Went n saw this movie on opening night friday. The theater was packed as I expected and the show before ours had already been sold out. Newayz, bout the movie...I didn't really like it just because I didn't understand the movie. I think you have to have either A- Have a great understanding of Catholicism or religious history, B- Read the Bible (im sure it wouldve helped), and C- Read the book, The Da Vinci Code before watching the movie...It was just too confusing and too hard to follow. If I had to compare it to any other movie, I would say its very similar to National Treasure...except I would say this movie is like a step down form of it...I didn't like the actual movie plot, altho i did enjoy the parts where they start to figure out this Da Vinci code. This movie seems like its a B class movie or low budget movie or something. Another thing that I didnt really care for was how the movie just seemed long for some reason because its one of those movies where you think its gonna end here...but wait! there's more!!...And oh yea, Tom Hanks is a freakin sissy in this movie. I think the main lady has more balls that he does. They made his character seem so afraid of everything, i dunno, but then again it couldve just been me again. One part of that movie that really got to me was the crash scene (you'll see...). That crash scene was just a bit more than I could handle for some reason because like you kno how you see something in a scary movie and it freaks you out enough to where you think about it and it stays in your mind days after (ex: you think there is gonna be a little girl standing out in the middle of the street in the pouring rain at 3am waiting there to come get you or something, lol)...well how I felt about that crash scene, it really stayed with me...n thats kinda unusual because its not any worse than those VW crash commercials....newayz, my final verdict....Despite the negatives that I have pointed out, I recommend seeing this movie for those of you who can understand it or can really follow along well...

The movie leaves some parts out, because it has to.

So I actually saw it yesterday...it follows the book EXACTLY.

They did a good job of explaining what was going on.

Yeah, but he played a character that got thrown into a situation that he didnt want to be in...and he was very claustrophobic.

I think I might watch it despite my lack of knowledge abt teh catholic religion and teh bible. However I usually dont see a point in reading teh book when there's a movie out, I usually wait for a movie yo come out to avoid reading the book. I read enough at school.

You dont have to have knowledge of the bible to understand this movie. As long as you know that traditionally, Jesus and Mary were together....the entire premise of the movie has to do with the Mary Magdelene, who some say was Jesus's wife on the side. :)

I did not read the book, but I am a lil into thinking about conspiracies and thinking against religions. Plus with my friends being really into the illuminati, masons, etc, I guess i have a lil understanding of whats going on.

That being said, this movie was horrible. I actually fell asleep in the beginning. It was soooo boring. waste of $9.50 imo.

Have YOU read the book? (Edit.....I see that you havent read the book.)

    Quote from your link:
Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman stuck closely to Brown’s story, adapting the author’s dialogue-driven plot into a talky movie that, when words fail, relies on reenactments of historical events to get the key points across.

The only discrepencies she brings up is the fact that the characters are a little off from the book version....Sophie not as assertive, and Tom Hanks more of a skeptic. Neither takes away from the storyline though.
The storyline itself is spot on, like I said.
