    "Taste of Lexus Performance Edition"

Free Food and play with their cars.
    "Fast Lane
Drive the all-new, much-heralded 2006 IS 250 and IS 350. Compare the race-bred suspension, high-output engine and refined appointments to its top competitors – all on a tight, autocross-style drive course."
Not sure if you can beat it since it's not a competition like the Mazda events

Sounds like last yr's Toyota "putitinplay." It was just some lame mini autox courses where a "pro driver" sit next to you and screams at you to slow down. Well at least I got a free DVD out of it.

lol nm.. "Drivers (attendees and guests) must be at least 21 years of age." I forgot lexus is aiming for the Buick/oldsmobile audience now a days.

i wouldn't call 21+ the "buick audience" per se. my guess is last year - if they even DID this last year - they had a lot of accidents from newbie drivers.

regardless...this is going to be in DC, so i'm definitely going to it.

exactly what kind of 20 year old can even AFFORD a lexus? kidz have no business driving that kind of car, unless their dad is nice enough to let them borrow it! I think the median corolla driver age is like 38 or something lol (not 100% positive about that)

I wish they had an event where I live :(

They seemed to be hiring people off the streets in last yr's toyota event so I wouldn't be surprise if there were acciedents, but I didn't see any myself (wish I did, that would be fun). Also unlike Mazda's event the cars were on crappy OEM tires and brakes, some of the cars I drove had some early signs of brake fade and tires were starting to get greasy.

But it is true that Lexus dosen't have 1 car in their lineup that appeals to the younger audience. The last (or current) gen IS300 did a little bit, but that all changed when they re-vamped it with the Accord sedan's styling.

but look at it this way...like MTXjohn said, just HOW many people in our age bracket can legitimately afford a Lexus? not many...and not NEW, at any rate. this is geared toward the audience who can afford it...people in their late 20s(if they're successful businessfolk) and up. not quite limited to the "Buick audience" but definitely not the EVO and STi group, either.

True, not many can afford to buy one.. but if you compare the higher end brand of Toyota which is Lexus to the higher end brand of Honda which is Acura, there still are many kids driving around in RSX-S, TSX, CL's and TL's so there is a market for the younger generations.. through their rich ass parent's ocourse, but as long as they make a profit who cares right? Which pretty much summerize the current Toyota marketing stratigy anyways.

But at any rate heres a nice mazda even we can all go to

I went to this event last year, it was awesome. Got to drive many high-end cars and (ie. Jaguar, BMW, Merc, etc.) and the SUVs; the course set-up was pretty nice where you could do as many runs and push the cars hard. The free three course lunch wasn't shabby either; it's definitely not aimed for high school/college kids.
