    Tail Light not bright enough

well it rained here all day and reaked havoc on the roads. i was driving home around 110 last night and the HID's do a beautiful job of providing me with the light i need to see up front but i have one complaint. for a short while i got to drive behind this 9th gen S, i was about 80 feet away from him and the mist created by the tires had almost completely drowned out his tails so i am assuming it will do the same on my car. then i saw some other cars that i didnt see this problem with. how can i make my lights brighter so they are easier to see in bad weather conditions. with winter and snow soon approaching, i'd love to be seen by other drivers. i was thinkin using red bulbs but i dont know if that's gonna help. the LED retro fit is a good idea but i will need a set of spair tails for that and also materials so that may take a while. anyone have any suggestions??

I'm not sure how Japanese cars go, but most Euro models have a rear foglight. Have you ever been driving down the highway and saw a Volvo or Mercedes Benz with one tailight brightly lit as if it were signaling braking? That's a rear foglight. Maybe you could rig something up with your directionals or reverse light?
