    Synchros or clutch?

Well this only happens going into 2nd gear, soo....

When I'm either driving hard or im doownshifting, sometimes when I go into 2nd it sorta hits, revs up 2 grand (without any moving force), then catches. I know the clutch is pressed in all the way. It sounds bad lol. So do yall think its synchros (I don't because I rev match so the synchros shouldn't be that bad for it, I do because its only in second gear) or the clutch ( I do because of the neutral like rev up before catching, I don't because it only happens in 2nd).

BTW two people have learned manual on the car and it has 35 k miles (2001).

    thanks

I'd lean more towards the clutch... sounds like its not engaging... usually when synchros are going out you get a grind no matter if the clutch is in all the way or not... *shrug* then again its hard to tell unless I drove it.

Clutch...Not synchros...You need to get a Spec stage 1 clutch. I can get you one!!!

Started to sound like the synchros b/c most all cars (especially Toyota and Mitsubishi) have trouble with the synchros in 2nd gear but no grinding means they are safe.

You come out on the good end. Synchro's=Tranny work=$$$

    Clutch is cheaper!

Yes it would def be the clutch. If a syncro was going you wouldnt have the power that your engine normally has. Also if u let of the clutch to fast the car will jerk and will hesitate getting into gear. But be thankful it is the clutch.

    Are they quality parts?

My TRD Japan clutch, clutch cover, and lightweight flywheel, came out to $800 for just parts. This is getting them at wholesale prices too.

I paid over over 600 for the clutch/flywheel combo...and another 360 for installation..it was worth it, though.
