Engine swap MR2 engine

    swap MR2 engine

    is it possible to swap an MR2T engine into a 2000 Corolla? if so, what year MR2 is best to swap in? 2nd or 3rd gen?

    yes it's possible. 3rd gen didn't have a turbo, so 2nd gen obviously. I'd probably go with the last year if u can find one.


    it's a ton of work, kinda pointless, but it is possible.

    what is the last year of the 2nd gen motor? or should i just turbo a 3rd gen?

    2nd gen MR2's | 1991-1995 | Came Non-Turbo (5S-FE) and Turbo (3S-GTE)
    3rd gen MR2's | 2000-Now | Came only Non-Turbo (1ZZ-FE)

    If you want to drop in a 3S-GTE engine, which came in the 2nd gen MR2's, then you're going to need money for it. It involves a lot of work and look for the project to be close to costing $10,000.

    If you want to drop in the 1ZZ-FE, you're better off just turbocharging the current engine you have.

    Both engine swaps are possible. You just need the time and money in order to do it.
