    Surge at Stops...

Anybody ever have this? I thought it was the A/C compressor kicking on before, but it does it without the A/C on. Could it just be bad idle, dirty intake, torque converter, timing belt?

It's doing it sometimes out of gear too. More pronounced in drive though. It's like an idle problem - I guess it's more of a lope. It runs fine and then it will stutter, kind of like when you put it into gear and it's like the car wants to jump off the line. Probably a sensor that's sending bad signals. I had a VW that did this and soon the timing belt snapped. The 'rolla has 106K on it and I don't know if the previous owner had the belt replaced.

I know that mine did what I think that you are talking about. All mine was--was I hadn't ever replaced the plugs and wires. After I did that.....It went away. And to think that I wasted all that money on injector cleaner, and all that engine gunk out stuff.

Yeah, I've been meaning to go through her with a microscope but haven't had time with other projects and the wife not wanting me to mod "her baby." The dealer was supposed to have done a full lube and tune...everything looked new. I'm still questioning the quality of fluids.

I wonder why I keep hearing horror stories about Toyota not honoring their service warranty... :(

Mine has done that for quite some time. The exact thing you are talking about.

I think I will get some new denso iridium <sp> plugs this weekend and see if that helps. I just turned 70k on it this month. Running bosch plats on it right now, got them for free.
