Streetglow undercar neon gold series vs Streetglow undercar LED kit

Wich would give better results a neon gold series or the new LED series?

They both basically run for about the same amount of money.

or just don't spend your money making your car look ricey...
anyways, if you put on undercar neons, please please please hide the tubes on the sides of the car, i'm sick of seeing ever single tube on a car. it's like some people mount them on the outside of the car.

don't get led neons. unless you buy 2 sets and a lift kit, otherwise you will see a pattern under the car and it will look like 100 circles in a line. i'm not impressed with led kits. get street glow gold series if you want to be happy.

ok so gold series is the way to go...

xnevergiveinx: i hate when the tubes stick out... the reason im getting the neons is since im getting a custom lip kit in wich i'll be able to hide the neons from view and i own a silver 01 and just think some light blue neons would look KICKASS, and its only goingo to be the glow... i've even seen people with conventional neons mounted ont he edge of their bumper.. and that sir is as rice as you can get. :p

The LED undercar kits are not bright at all. Very weak, and the only reason people get them is so they can do like strobe, and blinking and all that no sense.

If you want the best glow, and the brightest get the Streetglow gold series.

on the contrary, LED kits are very bright, if you purchase the correct kit..

let me rephrase.. LED's are a more direct light.. they do not disperse..

if you want to be able to leave your neons on a long period of time, get LED's.. battery drain is nil, installation is easier (IMO) and you get a lot more features. . i recently installed a 7 color kit on a friend's Galant, she's gotten nothing but compliments on it.. (LiteGlow kit)

Neons are not ricey, the cop is only allowed to give out tickets if he can see the bulbs.

That is how it is in my state, and I don't agree that the LED's are just as bright.

from having owned both (gold series white kit) and now an autoglow 7-color 12-pattern LED kit, I have to say the LED kit is superior. They're just as bright as my white gold series ones were (except the red, not very bright) and get a hell of a lot more compliments as they can do a lot of cool patterns.

My only complaint about them is that the "white" is not very white - it really looks light blue and I already got pulled over for it. So I just use green on the streets and random at shows/meets.

Warning about the blue neon idea you have - you WILL get pulled over for it. Might get a ticket, might not. I got a ticket before for blue neons I had, and then got pulled for my "white" setting on my LED kit - changed it to green right in front of the cop, he said that's fine... but blue WILL get you puleld over... just be prepared.

    do you have sideskirts?
I'm planning on getting a custom lip kit for my 01, my plan is to hide the neons behind the sideskirts.

Not having sideskirts i really don't know what else you could do to hide the side neons.

CarbonB: so you got antiRicer Cops? they pull you over only if you can see the bulbs :p (if we had that here there wouldnt be a car in the street, i've never seen a decent Neon hookup, all i've seen is cheap-o Walmart neons mounted under the bumper in the OUTSIDE! not in the inside) LOL! That's why i wanna make the differance and make a real sweet neon solution.

LowRolla: Thnks for the advice but i don't think i'll have a problem with that... where i live cops just dun give a f*ck.. i have limo black tint all over my car exept the front, and in the front i have a sweet photogrey tint wich looks black from the outside (specially at night) but gives you sweet visibility from the inside out.

ive got a 98 with the streetglow gold series, and for the life of me, i cant get the neons on the side to be hidden. I had aluminum strips on the outsides of them, it worked really good, and then i bottomed out my car, and one of em got bent up. I dont wanna go that route again. anyone know what i can do???

hey, I think that you are having a hard time because the bulbs are bigger than the side of the car, the only thing that I woudl say would be to take them [ bulbs ] from under your car, and tape a strip of foil down the side

well, no, dont have skirts...i might do the foil idea... see how that works off, dont wanna put my car up on jacks and take off the tubes again, but, it it will hide the bulbs, then i guess itll be worth it.

I got a ticket twice for having blue washers on my ride, and both times beat them in court. The actual law in TN, is that they have to be flashing in order for them to be illegal.

underbody light kits are not ricey unless it's done poorly, or mixed in with a bunch of other cheezy crap. I hate to use a ricey movie like "fastnfurious" but tell me that vin diesels red rx7 with red underglow is ricey? hide the lamps, install it so it's the right brightness, and for heavens sake dont' use blue because cops consider that imitating a police car (hence why they don't mind other colors so much). try to stay away from both white and purple LED"s because they're close enough to blue that they'll hassle ya. I personally like LED's in anything because of their effeciency and long life, but are neons or cathodes really any less quality? I mean last time I checked neon lights take almost no energy, and I think energy to output ratio cathodes are really great energy-wise and last a long time, so it's more a matter of preference. keep in mind if you want to mix colors (get a true purple by mixing blue/red instead of a weak UV purple), you'll want to go the LED route.

I use to have neons and i know someone w/ led's....neons glow and are very noticable however if its cold, the gas in the tube will not as robust thus making the glow less bright and if you break the tube, you better hope you can still use that warranty or else that neon is done for. The LED's last a lot longer and will maintain brightness but is not necessarily glowing that much but in retrospect it looks like lines on the ground instead of a glowing effect. LED's are amazing though because LED's are small individually lit bulbs that are placed on a material similar to circuit boards and all that is enclosed in tubular glass. The neat thing is that if you break the glass, the LED's can still work....and if you snap the LED thing in two.....it will still work (with a little saudering). LED's are still bright mind you....and if you get lucky and figure out a way to actually make it glow, then LED's are the way to go.

NOW....as for hiding the neon/led....i have a skirtless 94 corolla and its gold colored but around the bottom part of my car is black which im sure just about all cars are. I used this to my advantage. Hiding the ones in the front and the back are no problem but the sides are most likely your main concern. People are right that if you can see the actual bulb then you can get fined for that because its something like improper lighting or imitating an emergency vehicle or something about how light can only be emitted in particular directions (oklahoma=stupid) or something about how light can only be emitted at so and so candlelights bright (if you check the law, it will probably say something about candlelight being the factor that they use....thats how it is in oklahoma....once again...oklahoma is stupid)...Well anyways, back to my hiding of the tube....the lower part of my car is black. I went to my local hardware store (home depot or lowe's) and bought pipe insulator and hide the tube...it also protects the tube....i hope this helped....

    Led's Or Neons

i have owned both, and so far the LED kit is way better than the neon kit. not only can you do more with a LED kit(different functions), they are also brighter than neon tubes. with a system in my ride, i let the led's dance to the bass, and it rocks!!!!
