It's not like this is new news or anything but i've just never seen pics n stuff of it. I hope they don't come to Oklahoma. So many people would get their cars crushed cuz it's gettin pretty bad around here. And everyone has an engine swap cuz of no inspections n stuff...

It clearly says that they are cracking down on stolen parts, not so much the street racing aspect of it.

Well, they are cracking down on street racing, but stolen parts leads to your car getting crushed.

1998 Acura beating corvettes and ferraris?? Bullshit

But yes, your right in the part about how it just says that they need a court order to crush the cars and that they need to prove that the parts ID/serial numbers were altered, removed, or destroyed. That prolly isnt too hard to do since half the engines out there that people sell off for swaps are hot..

I think its all a publicity stunt anyways.

I dont see how it could be legal. Unless they have it in their code that they can confiscate the car forever the same as confiscating cars used in drug busts etc

my friend got his car crushed in hawaii because he bought parts from this tuner shop that sold hot items, but he didnt know about it and they had been in business for 10 years+ so they shop owners are spending 10 years and since they kept records of cars worked on they crushed his car, instead of taking the parts out...kinda sucks and its not like he knew they werent legit, its kinda like if tweak sold you a hot engine and they crushed your car

im saying tweak does just comparing it

There could be a case there so far as the value of the property that wasn't stolen goes and your right to compensation for the destruction of it. If the engine was deemed stolen but the rest of the car wasn't, you may be entitled to the fair market replacement value of the legit parts of the vehicle.

But he's still in possession of stolen property. I see where you're coming from, but the law states otherwise. I don't see how its fair to crush a car. What if the car was still being paid for? Who's going to cover the loan? What about insurance? I dunno but alot of things don't seem right about crushing cars just like that.

Well it looks like from now on, everyone better research the parts they are buying to make sure they are clean. And street racing is idiotic. I agree that if you are caught racing, you should have your car crushed or sold(in pieces).

I agree. There is a difference between knowingly buying something stolen and being oblivious to the fact that it was stolen. But how can you prove if someone knows they bought something stolen or not...that would just be your word against theirs and last I checked, hearsay information was not plausible evidence in the courts. In that article, they even said that one of the guys had a receipt from where he bought his "stolen" tranny from. I don't think the entire automobile should be the one being dealt the blow here. What they should've done was remove the stolen parts and pursued the shop that sold it to the guy.

i think they pull out the engine and tranny out first before smashing those cars to prevent from oil leak and gas explosions.
