    SPL competition?

Im trying to upgrade my sound system to SPL competition level, and im just wondering how many more subs and more rms watts do you think i should get. I currently have 2 JL 12w3v2, and they dont satisfy me anymore. I want a lot louder system, but i dont want to crack my window or break my car apart. I really appreciate it if somebody could help. Also, i want to know which amp to get for the new subs.

    Re: SPL competition?

Just drive with your windows down all of the time... then you can have the super high spl system w/o worrying about cracking your windows... :D

Personally, I like systems with lots of balance... Richard Clark style...

You mean that GN with miracle Alpine amps? The ones with hidden mod to circumvent the rulebook?

There was a HUGE thread about that in Carsound and RC got hammered so bad that the thread got deleted (or something to that effect)

Anyways, for SPL, stick to those W3's- I personally think they are capable drivers. The only other thing that you need to change is your enclosure design (I suppose). Get a moderately sized class-D monoblock (like MTX 81000D, BMF 1000D, JL 1000/1, etc) and wire them all the way down to 2 ohms (parallel) Build a ported box that matches your drivers' specs and you have an SPL monster!

Go to www.termpro.com - plenty of helpful people over there. (I post there under "sepp")

    See ya there bud.
