Speed Source Polyurethane Engine Mounts (pics + install + reviews)

While performing my engine swap a few months back I contacted Carl @ Speed Source about their polyurethane engine mounts. He was kind enough to offer to start producing a set for our car so I sent my OEM mounts to him so that he can take some measurements. A month later he produced a few sets of prototypes and shipped me a set.

Unlike engine mount inserts from companies like Energy Suspension, the Speed Source mounts are produced using one solid piece of polyurethane. These entirely replaced the OEM rubber engine mount bushings which is great as my OEM rubber bushings were beginning to sag and crack from 10+years of use.

I removed the old bushings per the instructions on the Speed Source website. All it took was a hack saw and some Patience. But if you or a friend own a hydraulic press, they can be remove much more quickly.
As you can see, there is 2 different diameters. The larger one fits the rear mount while the smaller one fits the front.

A little bit of lithium grease in the housing and around the bushing help the polyurethane bushing go in more easily.

It helps to have a vice to help push the bushing into the housing.

Repeat the same procedure for the other mount and you're done!

***Stay tune for car install pics***

*This install was performed on a set of 93-97 Corolla Front and Rear engine mounts
** From visual inspection, these mounts will also work on 98-02 Corollas *untested*

For more info about the bushings please visit http://www.speed-source.net/
I encourage you to contact Carl @ Speed Source if you are interested in a set for yourself. I believe he still have a couple sets of prototypes left in stock.

The mounts look identical to the 8th gen ones. I'm 95% sure they'll work. Remember that I also have the Speed Source poly mount, but only in the front. I might just have to get the rear one as well.

I can confirm you that the front mount DO work in a 1998, since I got one since for some reason the one for my year wouldn't fit do to my slightly bigger radiator

They only offer front and rear torque mounts so you have no choice. And yes, those are the most important anyways.

well carl haven't set pricing on them (that I know of) so I don't know the price. I'd imagine they'll be priced similarly to the celica/mr2/scion ones on his website now.

I can definately tell you that you'll notice a difference in power transmission to the ground. If you have a MT you can chirp your tires more easily during hard shifts.

here's a quote directly from their site:

And a additional advantage for guys with headers w/o flex pipes is that since the engine movement is reduced/eliminated, your header wouldn't crack as easily.. YAY:p
