    speaker wiring

    Hey everyone,

Am I able to use the Scosche TA03 http://www.scosche.com/scosche/connectors/TA03.asp
    for my particular setup?

I would like to use the stock speaker system with an oem 4-channel amp. basically, i would want to run an audio signal to the amp, and run the amp's output to the schosche device, which would then send the signal to my car's prewired system? If anyone knows if this will work, that'd be awesome, thanx~! :)

Most cars do not have a seperate amp and instead power their speakers right from the deck. All head units that I've seen have this capability as well.

The dongle that you see there is what will allow you to hook up your head unit to the car at all without having to cut any wires, it gives you a connector and a bunch of bare leads that you can solder to the harness that'd come with your HU and be able to wire it all together.

hmm.. I think you misunderstood my question. i'm planning on not having a head unit at all... currently, my stock HU connects to the speaker system via the connectors that plug into the back. I'm hoping to remove my HU, and use that Schosche adapter to run an audio signal from my amp directly to the speaker system. I'm just wondering it will work this way... (ie, those rca ends on the schosche adapter being an audio input for the stock speaker system)

Are you using a Toyota 4-channel amp or aftermarket.

I'd be purchasing an aftermarket 4-channel amp. My plan was to send a PC audio signal to the amp's low level inputs, then from the amp to the scosche harness which I'm supposing will let it connect with my stock speakers, is this sound?

to be totally honest, I think it's rather stupid to do that with the higher gauge wires and the way the wiring would work.

I think the best idea would be to do your own rewiring to the speakers using some higher quality, lower gauge wires. Besides, you'll already have to do your own rewiring so that your computer - which I'm guessing will be kept in the trunk with the amp - has the ignition and power wires to it, and then the same to the Amp; so why not rewire the speakers?

ok, i think this won't work because the rca outs on an amp won't provide speaker level signals to my speakers... but is there a simple way to wire an aftermarket amp to the stock speakers using the existing wiring? I just don't want to deal with wiring those tweeters by the side view mirrors.

If there isn't and i have to just bite the bullet, is there a wiring diagram for the 6 speaker corolla setup that someone could point me to?

Call me crazy, but an amp that won't power speakers?....
    Umm...sure.

Quite honestly, if you're changing the front speakers at all you're going to need to do some rewiring because component speaker setups come with a seperate crossover that you'd have to put somewhere. I think that might even be easier to do; though fitting the tweeters might be a pain...

Then it's just like Amp -> crossover -> speaker and tweeter

It'll work, but not with the harness you're looking at. You need this one:
