    Speaker Advice needed !!!

I need some advice on what type of speakers to get, I want components up front and coaxials in the rear, I kinda want the same brand all around, but I cant decide on what brand to go for, I was either lookin at Mb Quart, Alpine Type R, JBL, or Kicker. Can someone help me out, Im planning on buying them from IKESOUND.com

i havent heard all of the brands but i know that pioneer makes good 6x9's if you want lots of output, especially bass. that might work well if you dont have a subwoofer. alpine type r sound good as well. Do you have an amp or plan to amp these speakers? It also depends on whether you are running the stock cd receiver or an aftermarket one.. the stock one puts out probably like 15wrms so dont expect much unless you amp that thing...

If you live close to someone that's upgraded their system, ask if you can get in and listen to the kind of music you like. If it sounds good, ask what kind of gear they have.

Asking others for advice on what sounds best is like asking what the best color for a car is. You're gonna get 10 different answers, and what looks (sounds) good to me may look (sound) really bad to you.

Trust your ears, THEN find out what kind they are. May save some big money and still be very happy.

Kicker RS6C components are sweet. It's about $168 on eBay.

    Re: Speaker Advice needed !!!

Just curious-- what made you decide that you want Coaxials for rearfill? Most coaxials roll off at +/- 20Khz, while components roll off at 16Khz. THAT is a HUGE difference. Even if both front stage and rear fills are BOTH let's say MB Quarts, they WILL sound different. (ie. unbalanced)

If you just want a decent upgrade, go with the mid-line Focal Polyglass ($200) or MBQ Reference ($200). I don't recommend the entry level models (Access and Discus) It's really worth going up another notch for a little more money. (HUGE difference in sound)

Are you planning to compete in SQ eventually? If so, I would ditch every brand mentioned above and go with Focal, CDT, Dynaudio, Image Dynamics, or MB Quart. I would lose the rear fill and concentrate on front stage. Tweak, tweak, and tweak a lot, that is- if this is the path that you want to be.

IKESOUND goes by the username Scala1 on eBay and is a VERY reputable seller. Another audio source that I buy from regularly is Indoaudio who goes by the username Indoaudio@aol.com on eBay. I bought my Focal Polyglass from him for $200, this retails for $600.

Between the Quarts and Focal.. tough call. I found that Quarts have the "In-Your-Face" and Aggressive kind of sound (complimented by the bright tweets) while the Focal line has a Warm, Laid Back but Detailed sound. You really can't go wrong either way.

I just sold ALL the Quarts I own. Someone offered me $200 for the whole set.

I recently just switched to Focal PolyGlass and I'm still in the process of tuning it.
If you like LOUD, Crisp, and Aggressive sound, the Quarts are really for you.

I Demo'd my car in the SoCal meet (SSJ_Rolla, Zero, Chrome94, Rainmaker, and many more was there too) I played The Matrix's "Lobby Shooting Spree" and the parking lot floor was LITERALLY shaking. The Quarts NEVER bottomed out and reproduced the tiniest nuance in the program material. Also Alot of competitors have been winning with Quarts lately. I honestly DO recommend Quarts to anyone.

You get what you pay for :p
