    Sound Deadeners: How many feet?

    Hi guys, how many feet do you think I would need if I were to get one layer of sound deadener on trunk, rear deck, and two front doors? I've heard mixed results, from 25 feet up to 70, so I'm trying to see what you all think. Thanks =)

    I bought two 3' rolls. I had half of one roll left when I was done with my front doors.

    I think it's be in the neighborhood of 25-30 sq. ft. You might want to get some weather stipping to cussion(sp?) the trunk lid for when the bass hits. Get the 1.25" ones.

    I've got about 80-90 sq. ft. in my trunk right now.

    Kwong2001, why so many sq. ft. ? Would i need it as a casual music listener, or was that 80-90 ft. more for the competitions? Do you think one layer is sufficient for me if i just want to simply get rid of the *ANNOYING* rattle and vibrations?

    GT-R, I think 80-90 sq ft. weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50 pounds. If you have subs in your trunk which can weigh a good 50-70 pounds, I don't think you're worried about performance.

    velozmatar, my car isn't built for competition, but my system is good enough to where it rattles the shit outta everything. I've got one layer throughout the trunk and about 4 layers on JUST the top part of the trunk.

    I don't know how good your system is. But if you just want to start out. I'd suggest you do one layer on the ENTIRE trunk lid. Just cover the whole damn thing as best you can. Getting in every little crack. But make sure you leave the holes for the thing that covers the trunk lid. Then put some 1.25" weather stripping on the lid to cussion(sp?) the vibration of the trunk lid. Also, what I did, was get some stuff called dynashield and sprayed it on my rear deck. This acts like dynamat except it's for places where dynamat really won't work too well.

    This'll be a good start and probably kill much of your vibration. You might also want to think about doing the quarter panels as those were giving me trouble for quite some time.

    I wouldn't be too worried about the doors though, it's the trunk that will give you the most problems.

    ===================================================

    Here's my trunk. I've added some more sound deadening and weather stripping, but overall, that's what it looks like.

    Well I've got two infinity 1030w' s and an audiobahn a8002t amp, still no deck yet haha...but when i play my stock system i get a vibration from the doors sometimes, and nowadays i get a little bit right in front of me on the dash. I get a lot of rattle from the rear deck though. What is the dynashield stuff you're talking about? where do i get it, and how come dynamat doesnt work well in the rear deck? how did you spray it? take out the speakers and spray?

    If you pull the rear deck out, you'll see it'll be a pain in the butt to dynamat the rear deck. It's just a whole lot easier to just spray on the dynashield. btw, when I say the rear deck, I mean the plastic part that covers up the speakers.

    Anyhoo, all you need to do is mask off everything and just spray it on. Make sure to shake up the can to where you hear the little metal thing jiggling inside. Oh yeah, the cans cost $20 a piece...so they're kinda expensive.

    go to lowes or home depot they have a sound damping looks like dynamat works like dynamat but its not dynamat and best of all its 12$ for 25 square feet my friend has it in his car and there is no rattling.
