I had to wait till I was 23 in May then sent a letter into the agency that I was adopted from, my parnets never hid it from me, waited till like end of June and got a packet of info that I had to pay, plus the price to do a search. It cost close to 800 bucks, I can thank my parnets for that payment, waited till end of August got a call from the agency then got her info. Took a month to get my thought and wrote her a letter then a week later she called and we have talked on AIM since then.

thats awsome... its good to hear that your adoptive parents never hid it from you... its unfortunate when you see kids that are obviously adopted but are led to believe (for some reason) that they arn't

Hopefully it works out for you two! Its a great thing.

I hadnt seen my dad for 14 years, and when I was 15, I met him again. We got together often for about 4 year, but once i turned 18, guess he lost interest.

Last time I saw him was at my grandmother funeral (his adopted mother).
So hes adopted and Im the only blood that he knows of, other than my son. His loss.

word... never knew my dad. however, i wouldn't have traded the life I got in order to know him, thats for sure. It kinda amazes me that people can so easily disconnect themselves from their own blood. Yet, it is good to hear stories of where it works out well.

All the luck to ya rolla02! :)

that's why i'm terrified to do it. heh...when she's in the area, mind if she and i have a chat? i'd like to hear things from the "mom's" perspective; i don't know anyone who's given a child up and gone on to meet them later on.

AWESOME that it's working out for you, hon. congrats :)

fear that their adopted child won't love them anymore, or the desire to prevent their child from the pain that potential rejection brings...

that's the ONE reason my parents don't want me to do it while i live at home. i respected their wishes, but i'm still overly apprehensive myself.
