Engine Smog question

Smog question

I had my 97 smogged but didnt pass. The guy said i'm running too lean. I have headers with that sensor that screws in at the bottom, stock catalytic con. and stock muffler. The intake i have doesnt have that hole where the sensor plugs in. The sensor is just hanging there not plugged in. If I put the stock intake back on will I pass smog?

umm where do u live first off. check your o2 sensors.

if the IAT sensor isn't plug in i would think you would be running more rich than lea.. I would suggest you put the airbox back in along with checking the conditions of your sensors

Try plugging that IAT sensor in your intake. What's your location?

if its dangling loose-it all depends on the temps its reading-if its hotter than the air comin in your intake-that would cause the "leaniness" -either make a hole or order a new intake off ebay w/ a hole...

you have headers? right, anyways. put your factory exhaust manifold back on
