Small "clunk" sound when accelerating and hose loose *PICS*

Hi, my 95DX once in a while will make a little "clunk" or "scrape" kind of sound when accelerating. It just started a week ago, and my car feels fine, ideas? I also swapped back my OEM airbox and noticed a hose as loose. It is the one of the two on top of the Engine Coolant "bottle", the one facing the back of the engine. I couldn't find any other loose connections or hoses, any idea where it goes? Or would a picture explain better? Thanks for the help

3,000 miles ago, the sound sounds like it is coming from the engine bay though. And my tranny is not slipping or shifting hard. Oh, and the sound is not right when I accelerate, it is when I am already around 15-35MPH and still accelrating. Can it be anything else?

does it happen when you first start accellerating, like at a light? check your motor mounts.

It is more like, if I was to accelerated a little, let off the gas, then get back on the gas, I hear a slight clunk/metal scrape sound.

engine mounts or suspension parts. Sounds like something that's involved in weight transfer or engine/transmission supports. Try putting the selector in 1st gear, and trying the same thing. Put it in 2nd, then O/D OFF, then O/D ON to see if it is dependent on what gear the transmission is in or to see if it might be shift shock from the tranny changing gears.

And does anyone know what this "box" is attached to the stock intake tube? Can I remove it? Or put a breather filter on it?

motor mounts are not that expensive, and if it's an upper mount you can change it yourself.

i'd check your tie rods, dude.

I dont think it connects to anything actually....think its a breather hose for your coolant resevoir.

That box on your intake is a silencer

Go invest in a Haynes Manual...10 bucks at your local auto parts store.

That clunk sound might also be worn CV joints. If its just one clunk, try your engine mounts.

Broken engine mounts will cause a vibration at idle though sometimes

Well, my car runs perfectly. I think I will just take it in to Midas or something. Also, for that silencer, can I just remove it and cap it off? I kind of miss the sound at WOT my eBay intake made haha

remove it and cap it - should be fine. It's purely for sound reduction.
