    SLUGGISGH oil pressure build-up

This morning, after work, the temp outside was 3ºF. I started my car and it took like 5 seconds for the oil pressure gauge to even move from 0psi. It took about 30 seconds for it to reach full oil pressure (85psi). It knocked and rattled and tapped until it reached about 30psi, which worries me a little. Cars HATE cold weather, especially mine. The exhaust was even rattling against the floorboard which hasn't ever happened before. NOT COOL AT ALL!!!!!! I REALLY need a block heater or an oil warmer or something to help it out.

man ulev, you're always having problems with your car. maybe it's time to trade it in to buy a focus or something.

Yea what weight of oil are you running, cause that sounds like the problem.

Cause I had no strange noises from my car when it was that car, minus the fact that my car stalled after like 5 secs and then ran fine

What kind of oil and filter are you running? That sounds really bad to run that long before oil pressure builds up - even in really cold weather. I get oil pressure almost immediately ~ few seconds(Mobil 1 5w-30, Toyota OEM filter). It might be the pressure guage that is having problems.

    Good Luck.

CRipes! I'm running Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic with a Purolator L14476 oil filter. It has been 3,126 miles since my last oil change.

I don't think anything is wrong with the car. Hell, it was 3ºF outside. Of course the oil is gonna be thicker. That's why it's recommended you idle the car for 30 seconds before you start driving. Plus I have like 4 feet of tubing between the block and the gauge. It knocks and taps because it has piston slap which is a known problem on engines with small piston-to-cylinder clearances like the 1ZZ.

And as far as trading and buying a ratty-ass focus....fuh-kat.
