Slalom Speed

    Slalom Speed

    Hey i was wondering whats the slalom test do? i think i saw it in motor trend in the back of the magazine where they had all the cars they tested..and they have tested a Corolla CE and a Corolla S..the CE got faster 1/4mile but S got 2mph faster in the slalom....62mphvs 64mph..hehe someone tell me what it is.

    Its a set of cones, i think they are 100 feet apart, and then there are like 6 cones or something, im giving basics here, but neway a car drives through weaving between the cones, and they record final speed. Its a way to measure traction and control. For comparisson, i think the mazda protege is like 72 or something. I believe its the best fwd car, the integra is close but not that fast.

    I believe a modified Celica is the fastest that SCC ever tested...somewhere north of 70mph I belive. The CE is faster through the 1/4 mile because of it's lighter weight and less rolling resistance, the S is quicker through the slalom due to the larger tires.

    Wow thats quite fast, the test must of been done on stock tires too? So I wonder how annoyed the driver was with all that tire squeal!!! :p

    ...to be more exact the Protege in question is the Mazdaspeed.

    Its the normal protege, not the mazdaspeed version, packing 140 hp i think.

    It shte Protege MP3..it was limited production...it had a badass sound system came with a MP3 kenwood player and some other goodies..they tweaked it with better suspension..racinghart 17inch wheels and racing beat muffler
