short shifter = chirp 3rd gear

I just installed my short shifter today and on her first test run she barked third gear, sweeet! Has anyone else with a s/s done this?

Here's a whole thread devoted to that topic...

IMO, only cars with high hp and torque are capable of spinning their tires between shifts. In an automatic, it would be virtually impossible without damaging the torque convertor or valve body/gear set. Personally when I'm driving any car at WOT, I'm rev matching my gearshifts (heel-n-toe) to maximize forward acceleration... no chirps between gearshifts.

I did it 3 times on the first day I installed the s/s and I put on new tires (Nitto Neo Gens). Its crazy b/c the tires have an AA traction rating.

actually there were thunderbirds that had a turbo 4 cyl. but not sure what years.

and i wish i had the 5sp over the auto junk box in my supercharged rolla I would have still been driving it today. how are the quick shifts you miss any yet i did chirp 2nd gear with my auto a few times in the rolla and have chirped up to 3rd on other cars and trucks but it took a beating.

when i installed a hurst shifter in my old truck it took a few tires to get the quick 2-3rd shift just right. cause the throws were so much shorter.
can you shift with just a flick of a wrist or is it sill a bit long cause the stocker is on the long side for a manual. felt like my bro's mustang. he got a new shifter and it is really sweet hope yours it the same gives the car much better 1-2 and 2-3 gear changes. and feels a lot firmer.
