it's more likely to be a badly done bypass to avoid hydrolock.

I doubt that it will suck in the air from that extension tube.

uhm, too bad that all the air is going to come in from the filter closest to the manifold.... you may get a little bit of air from downstream, but not enough to make a difference

A real variable short ram cold air should have 2 tubes. Racing BMWs have had these for quite a while now. Its not new. I believe this was already talked about in another thread. The intake consists of a short air intake tube and a long cold air intake tube joined together at the throttle. A valve separates the short and long tubes and open and close them from the throttle according to engine speed. So the short air intake is used at low rpms and the cold air intake at higher rpms. You really don't make that much of a power difference though unless you're making really high numbers.

yea tuner , i think you got it backwards. you gain topend and lose low end with a CAI.

AS FOR THE PIC . you basically got yourself a leaky , very leaky cold air intake with a huge by pass , so you really got a short ram , w/ a restriction.

oh yeah , i saw this on corollacustomz earlier today. my geo was the same color as the one in the pic . and yes its a geo cuz corollas didnt come in that color. why dont you just claim it as yours like it is? dont be afraid of what people think , its a trial and error thing. no problem.

this thread reminds me that i have to cut my elp cai for a bypass valve or customiz it for an SRI during rainy days.

Its best to just stick with a CAI. Extra fancy stuff won't work.

that would worked if you lead the pipe to the front of the air dam so the cold air is forced into the filter while driving

It still wouldn't create enough pressure to overcome the first filter.

i have the actual bypass valve from aem. its a lot smaller than an actual filter cone like that.

    True! lol

I was gonna go with an AEM bypass, but I realized I don't live in a place where there are constant rain showers and flash floods. There is of course a lot of snow, but I'm content with switching to a RAM intake for a few months and coming back to the CAI for the rest.

To an extent it would work, because cold air would be circulating at the inner cone and would get sucked it, but better opion is which i saw w while back, cone filter enclosed in a cylinder with a long tube comming out leading to the fender, wasn't too pretty looked like an old style vacum cleaner but apparently it did the job.

Well no matter how fancy or complicated the intake is, it won't make significantly more power than the traditional CAI.

oh... I see. Well I'm sure you can modify a stock air box to fit a cone filter and then close it back up.

yeah I plan to do that in my 11th gen, I'll fit a cone filter into stock air box then throw away the stock air duckt and use 3 inch pipes and lead them to the fender or infront of the radiator
