    Scion tc magazine reviews

A couple of tc reviews. The verdict seems favorable so far.

    car and driver

    Newcartestdrive

The newcartestdrive review mentions the price for the supercharger as $4500 which is the first mention of price i've seen, can anyone confirm that price?

maybe the $4500 is the supercharger that's suppose to cater to the lunatic fringe who want 300hp

I am curious about this, "Toyota's high-performance arm is already working on a 300-horsepower package of parts for the lunatic fringe" as quoted from the website at the top.

That itself is enough to convince me to invest more of my time into the new tC. When TRD does come out with their new 200hp supercharger (160 stock hp + 200 hp supercharged= 360hp? Is that right?) the tC will be my next car. 360 hp? Whoa....that's way more than what the STi and SRT-4 can come up with.

"To make the car more palatable to more people, Scion has chosen a menu of 40 different freestanding options, more than any other car in its class, ranging from a $4500 supercharger kit good for 200 horsepower to a selection of different chrome and leather shift knobs. Special Toyota Racing Development (TRD) high-performance items for the Scion tC include 18- and 19-inch wheels, a lowering kit, struts and shock absorbers, rear anti-roll bar, a high-performance clutch, a quick shifter, a stainless steel muffler, and a shift-point indicator light kit. Toyota's high-performance arm is already working on a 300-horsepower package of parts for the lunatic fringe."

Is it 300 total hp or 360 hp? There is a discrepancy there from the quote.

the supercharger adds 40 hp........making total hp 200. i'm not sure about the 300hp idea though. However, earlier i heard TRD was considering a turbo for the tC...........I bet you could get close to 300 out of a tC w/ a turbo.

that's it? Only 40 hp? I'm even more curious now what Toyota was talking about with the "300-hp package of parts". It could well be a 3-stage turbo package like the SRT-4. I will be awaiting more news...

I was impressed with the performance numbers, being that close to the IS300. 0-60 in 7.4 stock isnt too bad for a 3000 lb car. These positive reviews definitly increased my interest, i thought it was gonna suck.

i drove an auto TC today and i have to say, that car has no balls! at one point i floored it going up and onramp and pow! nothing  u can feel every pound of that car thru the turns. the ride was pretty good, which surprised me cuz all the reviews ive seen said the suspension felt soft and the performance was good. maybe the manual is faster, but all in all i didnt like it. sure reclining rear seats are cool but other than that i dont think there's anything special about the car. anyway, two thumbs down

that has been the consensus on the scionlife boards..that the auto is pretty pathetic, and the manual feels much better than the auto

ok, with the help of babylex i found the gear ratios for the auto and manual tranny's, and now i can see why the auto is so slow, the diff ratio sucks!

    manual:
    1st: 3.538
    2nd: 2.045
    3rd: 1.333
    4th: 0.972
    5th: 0.775
    Diff: 4.235

    auto:
    1st: 3.943
    2nd: 2.197
    3rd: 1.413
    4th: 1.020
    Diff: 2.740

to find the total gear ratio at the wheels u just multiply the gear u want and the differential. if the auto diff were at say, 3.75, then i think the auto would haul ass
