It's pretty smart if you ask me.

it's pretty plain and easy to read exactly what you are bidding on.

    people are just that dumb!!

Didn't they do a similar thing with the riginal XBOX? - "you are bidding on a brand new XBOX box". Buyer won bid - received an empty box.

Goes to show that buyer beware.

I love ebay. Anyone wanna go in with me on selling bags of air? Could market it as "a famous person breathed this air"

As stupid as it sounds...there are people that are even more stupid.

Yeah the XBOX 360 is insane, I went to Best Buy today and there were 480 people lined up outside around the building and down the block waiting for the 12:01am midnight madness XBOX sale. The store claims to have 250 units so a lot of people are going to go home pissed. Plus I went to Circuit City and even Kmart and every one of these stores has people camping out side. Its crazy. I don't recall any other console w/ this much demand.

According to another site, the most ANY best buy store got was 150. Most got less than 50. Ill find the site. It had the amount of XBOXs shipped to every single Best Buy

    why is it a scam?
The "ebay-er" specifically says that you are bidding on the e-mail address.

Look at the bid history where someone retraced their bid because "Seller changed the description of the item". So the seller originally posted the XBOX specs, then after someone bid on it, he changed the description to say it was for an email address.

that's not every situation...there are plenty of auctions that go through where the seller says, from the beginning, that they are selling the box, and people still bid. they rarely pay out, but they still bid.

I didn't say it was every situation, just said that appears to be the case in this situation.

    it's very possible.

considering how many of this sort of auction exist, however, i'm not surprised it was successful.

People need to chill out. It's just a game. Go do something physically active.

ahh...didnt know he changed the description.
if he didnt changed the description though it seems like a valid auction for an e-mail addy.
