S/C Owners, Help. Possible Spun Pulley Bearing

...ok so I've had my s/c on for two weeks now I think, and today I hear a noise coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. I take it over to one of my car club friends and he thinks it could be a spun bearing in the pulley. We HOPE its the s/c idler pulley, as this would be an inexpensive fix. (If the part is easily ordered) However, if its the pulley that connects directly to the s/c, then I'm hosed. Apparantly there are no bearings in that pulley. The bearings are in the s/c unit itself.

So, here are my options if that's that case:

    1) Revert the engine back to stock (GAY)
    2) Buy a new s/c unit (GAY)
    3) Rebuild the s/c (Have NO idea how to do that)

I just put on a new exhaust today and was all excited about running in Street Mod for this month's autoX event...

Holy shit what a bummer... :(

Ok, so anyone had to replace any parts on your s/c setup yet?

Oh yeah, I can't take it to Toyota, because the s/c kit is used, therefore voiding my warranty. (Yeah smart move, huh?)

Did a little diagnosis this weekend on the problem. Looks like its the idler pulley, just under the s/c pulley. Should be a $40 part to replace. In the absense of an automotive stethoscope and being too lazy to remove the serpentine belt, we used a ratchet and touched different parts and placed the other end against our ears. :) Actually works. Gonna but a stethoscope tomorrow.

Will post pics and vids of the new axelback exhaust when I fix the pulley. :D

sounds like you dodged a bullet. Good job on getting it figured out, and hope you do well at the Auto X if you get to make it there.

    Thanks man. :D [whew]
Can't wait to run in Street Mod. :) (Mainly to see the people do a double take when they realize its a corolla running in that class) LOL

and correction form my first post, its an $85 part. Comes with mount, Pulley and shims. :meh: Oh well, still considering this a cheap fix. lol

Bought a Stethoscope from Autozone today for like $10. Pretty cool diagnostic tool actually. It is DEFINITLY the idler pulley now. :D
