    Royal Purple Synthetic Oil

Is Royal Purple Oil good compared to Castrol Syntec and Mobile1? Because i just picked 4 up today for 5.98 a quart @ Stevens Creek Toyota.

RP is good stuff as well. Good choice. Better than Castrol Syntec, about the same league as Mobil 1.

Redline primarily makes differential and gearbox lubricants. RP, Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec... are more known for their engine oils.

Royal Purple has a very good reputation, but like Castrol Syntec, it is not a full synthetic oil.

Royal Purple is now calling their oil a full Group IV synthetic. I'm still looking for proof of that. Red Line IS (sorry Bimmer) known widely for their oil, especially racing oil. From all I've read and studied over the years they are rated among the best. I used to use it but it wasn't cost effective. Mobil 1 is available everywhere and always at better pricing. It is also a proven product. As soon as my Accord is broken in I will use M1 0-20. It's a matter of convenience and budget. Which is best? Who will ever REALLY KNOW???

fgf001 is correct. Red Line is mostly known for their racing oil.

Well, I guess I learn a new fact each day. The only experiences I've had with Redline is gearbox/transmission/differential lubes. I'll have to check into the other lubes.
