    Anyone have any suggestions on a good remote start and alarm system?

    I checked that out, but it looks like you can't buy it for self installing.

    I have installed it with one of my friend that work in a audio / alarm shop. So I got it for half of the price and didn't pay for the install....ok, maybe it cost me some beer but thats it !

    It was not to difficult to install. If you have the wiring diagram of the corolla you should be fine.

    (sorry for my poor english ! :wink: )

    How do you like the compustar? How far away does the remote start work? What kind of beer? :lol:

    I think it's about 5000 feets. I'm very satisfied with the range.

    And the beer was some cheap molson dry :D But you got to control yourself or the installation can be crappy !

    A range of 5000 feet? 5280 feet = 1 mile. Are you sure about that?

    That explains everything... In the US, the FCC regulates transmitter power, and a range of almost 1 mile sounded far-fetched. Without a separate license from the FCC (for the transmitter), my guess of real-world (of US models) performance is something around 200 feet.
