    Redtop 4AGE swap

The high mileage 7AFE in my 93 Corolla wagon blows blue and goes through oil fairly badly. At half a tank of gas from fill up, the oil dipstiack reads half so I top up quite often. Although I'd really like a 4AGZE / 20v swap, I'd be happy with a low mileage redtop 4AGE from a donor 90 GTS as a quick cheap fix and save the 7AFE for a future build.

My questions pertain to what all I can salvage from the GTS in addition to the engine swap? I assume there would be minimal wiring required with this swap?

    Please enlighten me.

    TIA!

are the engine mounts at the same place? I was always told 4a - 4a engines are drop in installs but 7a to 4a?

same everything. the 7a achieves its extra .2l of displacement through a slightly taller deckheight that aids in achieving its longer stroke as opposed to the 4a engines.

I found my dream power plant so the high comp 4AGE will be swapped into my 86. I may tinker with a 7AGE but not right now.

You can send the wiring to Dr.Tweak at www.phoenixtuning.com . He did the wiring and the swap of my 4agze into my 94 Corolla.

7a has 18mm taller deck height, to be exact :)

You should use the 4a mount, just in case part of the height difference is taken into account on the mounts (meaning, since the engine mount bolts to the engine, i'm not sure if it's located in the exact same position -- when I put my 7age into my ae92 I had problems getting the lower trans mount in, it might have had something to do with the deck height difference and the fact that I was using 4age mounts).

If you want to make it worth-while you should find a 90-91 motor, as they have more power.

Further, if you are able to find the mythical distributor that somehow I have and yet can't find, the 7a ecu can be modified to allow for a higher rev limit and you should be able to run stock electronics (with some modifications required).

The distributor needs to fit on a 4age head (which hangs off the exhaust side by piston #1) and have matching internal gear counts as your 7a dizzy. For my 4afe to 4age the internals had to be 24 and 4, which I have yet to see another 4age dizzy with these internals.
