    redline in an 01-02?

alright so i have an 01 corolla, totally stock, and i was just wondering what happens when u redline it? does it just hit redline and then the rev's drop or does it stay in and around redline?

also wondering the exact revs the engine redlines at, is it the 6200 that's on the tach?

you know, ive always wondered that. has anyone tried to use an mr2 ecu in their 00+? the internals are supposed to be the same except the redline is 7000 in the mr2

a lot of repinning has to be done. and redline on our cars is 6200 rpm, and when you get ther ethe engine bounces off the limiter. try it , it's fun and will not damage your car if it's properly warmed up and has seen regular maintenance.

yea its at 6200 rpms and if you have a loud exhaust like my old one, when you hit it. it sounds like a gunshot, same thing with the speed govener. LOL

All I can hear is my intake after 4000rpm. My intake is louder than my exhaust. :D

Toyota must have raised the redline in the 03 models. My '03 redlines @ 6450rpms. Nothing wrong with hitting the rev-limiter, either. Make sure the engine has been running for a good 15 minutes at least so the oil pressure isn't too high (oil temp lags behind water temp a good bit during warmup). It will bounce off the rev-limiter...kinda neat. The ECU just turns the fuel injectors off until revs fall, then turns them back on, then turns them off until revs fall...etc.

i use i-moni but it might not be super accurate. it connects to the obd2 so it reads right off the computer what it does. says about 6500rpm.
