Rear Speakers

I've got some pioneer TS-A6960R 6X9's in the back of my car in the stock position and they sound like crap. There's absolutly NO bass in them. What's the deal. I have an aftermarket AIWA head unit and it still sucks. My front Pioneer's sound great. Can anyone help? Thanks

Well first, which Corolla are we talking about here? The problem with most speakers we buy is that when you install them in the trunk they do not have the enclosure that they need to respond correctly. You have two choices, make a custom enclosure or buy some XCT foam and enclosed them in from www.Crutchfield.com Or you can get another set of speakers and make sure that they are "free air" speakers made for open trunk space and not an enclosure.

Froget the rear speakers....just get a good component set and a sub you'll be good....you don't want sound coming from the rear anyways...sound is suppose to come from front of you

Check the polarity to make sure they are not "out of phase" You could also run some heavier gauge speaker wire back to them that will help some. CW

I have a 2004 corolla. What speakers are "open air" speakers and where can I find them?

most speakers on the market are open air. basically the 6x9s pinoeer isnt made for bass but made for crisp highs and details, youll need a sub for bass. other than than get an enclosure like everyone else is saying. on an 04 you have more than enough room to deal with.

hey surf, i also have a 04' corolla S, if u have the money, save and get some rockford fosgate components, type T's, and 6 X 9's type T's because I jsut installed them, and i just am breakin them in and i recommend them to anyone who loves sound. The only thing is that you'll need a multi-channel amp cause the RMS is 100 for components and 60watts for the back, OMG i can't put it that high thou unless i park it and get out, and open all the doors and windows so that way my ear-drums don't bleed.
